Tradução em inglês: What is jellyfish sting?

Tradução em inglês: Jellyfish sting symptoms range from annoying and slightly painful rashes to severe systemic afflictions and, occasionally, death. Safe Sea exploits biochemical mechanisms to neutralize the stinging component of a jellyfish’s tentacles and thereby inhibits (prevent) jellyfish stings. Although jellyfish will still contact persons whose skin has been coated with the Safe Sea, the stinging mechanism of many tentacles will not be activated. Safe Sea is intended to diminish the intensity of, or prevent entirely, a stinging episode. It is not an after-sting (treatment) product.

Tradução em inglês: The first stage of a human jellyfish sting is stimulation of stinging cells sensors by skin secretion of a protein or sugar. A stinging cell consists of a dense capsule, within which is a highly folded “needle.” Hydrostatic (fluid) pressure of 150 atmospheres is developed within the capsule just prior to the act of stinging. The capsule is forced open by this pressure, allowing the needle to be released. The needle penetrates into the skin of a human or other “prey” with a force akin to that of a bullet fired from a gun. Needle accelerations of up to 5.000.000 times the force of gravity are developed during needle extrusion. This all happens in fraction of a second; jellyfish stings are among the most rapid mechanical events in all of cell biology. Jellyfish contains millions of stinging Cells that are analogous to high tech micro-injectors. Activation of stinging cells depends on several mechanical and chemical events. Our understanding of the morphology and biochemistry of the stinging organelles enabled us to identify the chemicals that inhibit the triggering pathway of the stinging cell and thereby to develop Safe Sea.

Como o Safe Sea® funciona?

Tradução em inglês: How Safe Sea® is working?

Tradução em inglês: Safe Sea® inactivates stinging cells in several biochemical sites. It reduce tentacle skin attachments, Mimic jellyfish self-recognition, block stinging cells activation site, interfere with cellular signal and reduced the internal osmotic pressure in the nematocyst capsule. In less scientific work: First Safe Sea® slippery texture makes it difficult for the stinging tentacles to get a grip. Then the cream absorbs secretions from the skin that would otherwise tell the jellyfish that it’s in contact with prey. Chemicals (stoppers) in the cream block up the sites where the stinging process is activated. Other inhibitors (stoppers) block the chemical pathway and finally other stoppers reducing pressure in the stinging cells, the stings cannot be fired.

Tradução em inglês: Does Safe Sea® is working against different type of jellyfish and sea lice?

Tradução em inglês: Yes- Safe Sea® is eliminating stinging cells discharge and skin penetration. There are 15000 specimens of jellyfish, coral hydroids and anemones and their toxins content is highly variable. This large phylum shares only 30 types of stinging cells with same mode of action. Safe Sea® inactivate stinging mechanisms and therefore expect to work for all. In did it was found to be effective against toxic jellyfish from different types.

Tradução em inglês: Does Safe Sea® tested against many types of jellyfish?

Tradução em inglês:  Safe Sea® is the only product that was tested and proven to be effective against jellyfish. This include clinically tested under double blind tests in several medical centres against several types of jellyfish. These clinical tests were conducted on Sea Nettle in Stanford Hospital University, Box jellyfish In Bert Fish Medical Centre in Florida, and Rhopilema (toxic Mediterranean jellyfish) in RAMBAM Hospital Israel. All tests demonstrated that that Safe Sea® provide effective protection against jellyfish sting. Other tests, that were conducted by Japanese independent team, indicated that Safe Sea® provide protection against Blue Bottle, Sea wasp and Box jellyfish (clinical test reports can be submit on request). Field test in Beliz and Florida, testing against lions Jellyfish in Oslo University, some work on the protection level of Safe Sea® against swimmer itch University of Erlangen-Nuernberg and more. These tests indicate that Safe Sea® effective against common Jellyfish and even dangerous jellyfish.
